Celebrating 150 years of God’s faithfulness

Celebrating 150 years of God’s faithfulness

The new estate of Selly Park was developed in the middle of the 19th century and plans for a new church were drawn up almost straight away. Land was donated by the Dolphin family and it was not much longer before St Stephen’s Church opened its doors on 18th August 1871. This year we are celebrating 150 years!

To celebrate the past 150 years of God’s faithfulness, we are going to be sharing stories of the people who have made up the Church family through the years, from some of the people who built the church, to some of our newest members today. We also recognise that the story of St Stephen’s is inextricably linked with the Selly Park community, so we would love to include the stories of the people around us… maybe that could be you?

We will share some of these here on our website and on social media over the next few months and then for one special week, 30th August to 5th September this year, St Stephen’s Church will be hosting an exhibition of all the stories and photos that we collect. Please join us to celebrate and to explore the stories of the people of Selly Park.  To be part of it, click here.
